Background

Renowned chef and restaurant owner Michael Toscano and his wife Caitlin sought to balance complex Italian flavors with a romantic, whimsical-yet-vintage aesthetic for his first restaurant endeavor in Charleston. The name “Le Farfalle” derives from an Italian idiom about chasing butterflies, a notion that inspired the optimistic, custom-lettered wordmark and subtle netted patterns. To tie in hints of an earlier culinary era, we studied vintage Barilla packaging and branding. Touches of gold foil to complement the brand’s rich green hue completed the restaurant’s charming identity.
